Squadron 42 story and setting

Checked 2026-10-17

The year on the official site is 2945. The plot details below the tagline come from the Star Citizen Wiki, and I mark them that way.

Source review: the official landing-page premise is distinct from the community wiki's fuller story synopsis. Crew posts and historical sequel plans below are secondary references, not first-hand knowledge of unreleased chapters.

Setting the wiki actually writes down

The Star Citizen Wiki summary starts from the Vega II incident. A new pilot joins the UEE Navy's 42nd Squadron aboard the frigate UEES Stanton, an Aegis Idris-M. Threats named there are the Vanduul and human pirates, with splits inside human space as well. Choices in missions branch the campaign. Wikipedia adds that some actions can earn UEE citizenship that carries into the persistent universe.

The UEES Stanton page puts the ship in the 5th Fleet, 87th Battle Group from 2935, previously the 351st, operating in the Odin system. Hull FF-436, built in 2872. Captain Noah White commands. Sophia Kelly is the executive officer.

People on the ship, and what I will not add

  • Steve Colton, flight instructor. Cara Webster, chief mechanic. Eugene Morrow, chief engineer. August Beck, quartermaster. The player character is a pilot. Source: UEES Stanton wiki page.
  • Episode Two, "Behind Enemy Lines", and a paid Episode Three appear on the wiki as plans. The October 2026 official pages I checked do not confirm that those episodes still ship that way.
  • The cited material does not provide a complete final chapter-title list. This page contains a setting summary, not a leaked walkthrough.

Questions I keep getting

Is there a war in Squadron 42?

The wiki frames a war with the Vanduul, plus pirates and human factions. The official tagline is a UEE near collapse in 2945.

Who is the main character?

A new UEE pilot you play. Ian Duncan and Alix Wilton Regan are credited as the male and female player voices on the cast wiki.
