How to get Squadron 42

Checked 2026-10-17

There is no official public Squadron 42 download or browser version. The current official action is to wishlist the Steam app.

The official source review dated 17 October 2026 covers Steam, the official game site and RSI download support. They do not offer a public installer. Private development builds are not evidence of a public download, and this site does not mirror installers.

What you can do today

  • Add app 4045720 to your Steam wishlist: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4045720/Squadron_42/
  • If you already pledged on Roberts Space Industries, open Account Settings and then Games Library. The support article says a pledge that includes Squadron 42 is what unlocks the download after release.
  • Do not pay a site that claims a beta, a preload, or a cracked build. None of those exist on the official pages I checked.

What is not available

After release, the support article says every RSI account that holds a pledge including Squadron 42 will be able to download and play. How that pledge maps onto a Steam key is not explained on the Steam page. I cover that split on the backers page.

Questions I keep getting

Is Squadron 42 free?

No. Steam is_free is false, and price_overview is null. There is no free demo either.

Where do I download the launcher?

You do not. The support article says the game is not downloadable yet. The store page is a wishlist.
