Release date
Squadron 42 release date
Checked 2026-10-17
The planned release window is Q2 2027. Steam, squadron42.com, and the 27 August 2026 chairman letter all say that. None of them names a day.
The official-source review on 17 October 2026 records a coming-soon Steam listing and the Q2 2027 window on the official game site. A quarter is not a confirmed month or calendar day. This page is a source-based tracker, not an announcement from the developer.
What is confirmed
| Source | What it says | Date on the source |
|---|---|---|
| Steam app 4045720 | Coming soon, date Q2 2027 | API read 2026-10-17 |
| squadron42.com | LAUNCHES Q2 2027 | Page read 2026-10-17 |
| Chairman letter | Q2 is a better window than late 2026 | 2026-08-27 |
What the letter actually promised
Chris Roberts wrote that CitizenCon 2024 had pointed at 2026, with a plan around Q4 and IAE. He then said he did not want to launch into the attention around GTA 6, and that Q2 2027 was the better window. He also said a specific date would follow the October playtest. The 12 October 2026 weekly recap does not add that date.
So the tracker state on this page is: window Q2 2027, day unknown, last letter 2026-08-27, last public hands-on 9–11 October 2026.
What I will not put on this tracker
- A made-up month inside Q2.
- A claim that the game is finished because the Steam page exists.
- A console date. Steam platforms are Windows true, Mac false, Linux false, and the store text has no PS5 or Xbox line.
Questions I keep getting
When is Squadron 42 coming out?
The published window is Q2 2027. There is no day in the Steam date field or on squadron42.com.
Was Squadron 42 delayed again?
The 27 August 2026 letter moved the plan from a 2026 window to Q2 2027. The delay page has the quotes.
