Is Squadron 42 playable yet?
Checked 2026-10-17
A Steam page is not a release. On 17 October 2026 the public could wishlist Squadron 42 and could not download it.
The official storefront and RSI support snapshot dated 17 October 2026 distinguish wishlist availability from a public build. Manchester details are attributed to the official recap or, for attendee restrictions, the secondary playtest reference. This site did not attend the session.

What the October session actually was
The 12 October 2026 This Week in Star Citizen post says Cloud Imperium welcomed around 140 community members to Manchester for a first hands-on. Those people spent five hours in Squadron 42, then an extra hour in a chapter aboard an adrift Xi'an ship. That is a private session, not a public beta.
The Star Citizen Wiki playtest page, citing that weekly, says attendees could talk about the overall experience and could not photograph, film, or record it. I am not embedding player footage from that weekend.
IMDb lists the title as a 2027 video game in post-production. CitizenCon 2953, on 22 October 2023, is where the project was called feature-complete. Feature-complete in 2023 and a public download in 2026 are different claims, and only the first one has a dated announcement.
Questions I keep getting
Is Squadron 42 finished?
CitizenCon 2953 called it feature-complete in October 2023. IMDb still lists post-production and 2027. There is no public build.
Can I play the Manchester build?
No. The October 2026 session was invitation only. The support article still says the game cannot be downloaded.
