SQUADRON 42

Do Star Citizen backers get Squadron 42?

Checked 2026-10-17

Some pledges include it. Buying Star Citizen today does not automatically mean you hold Squadron 42. The check is in Games Library.

The RSI download support article is the source for existing-pledge access. Steam account linking is a separate store requirement; it does not establish that an old pledge grants a Steam key.

The sentence I am not willing to stretch

The support article says that after release, every RSI account holding a pledge that includes Squadron 42 can download and play. It also says the current planned release is Q2 2027, and that the game is not downloadable now.

It does not say every Star Citizen package includes Squadron 42. The game-packages shelf I checked listed the First Flight Pack only. Standalone Squadron 42 packages are not on that shelf. If your library does not list the game, I cannot invent a grandfather rule that the article does not contain.

Questions I keep getting

Do I have to buy Squadron 42 again?

If Games Library already shows a pledge that includes it, the support article says you download after release. If it does not, that article does not grant a copy.

Will linking Steam add Squadron 42?

Steam says linking is supported. It does not say linking adds the game to an account that never pledged for it.
